WELCOME STUDENTS!

The Man who was afraid of ATMS, is one of the many short stories as written by Wena Poon. Her works have been widely published and documented in both the Singaporean and international sphere.

Wena Poon is a lawyer who was born in Singapore, and is currently working and living in the United States. The author’s situation reflects that of the situation in the story, where an elderly Singaporean man faces difficulties while adjusting to life in a foreign country.

This web quest is designed in order to meet the following objectives –
  1. To allow you to learn the cultural and historical background of both Singapore and Canada as mentioned in the short story
  2. To encourage you to explore intensively the various aspects of cultures and history of the two nations such as foods and festivals.

  3. To allow you to be able to compare and contrast the differences of both Singapore’s and Canada’s cultural and historical context

  4. To raise awareness of this differences and provide you with a sense of understanding and insight into the perspective of Chang in the short story
